The Oeschinensee toboggan run, called Rodelbahn Oeschinensee in German, is a summer mountain coaster near the upper gondola station. It is a separate activity from the lake walk, with its own tickets, age rules and dry-weather operation.

Put it into the day as an optional extra. A booked ascent does not reserve a coaster ride. A planned opening time does not guarantee that the track can run after rain.

Ride only when the track is open and dry, follow the staff briefing and keep both hands on the controls. Children from age three can ride with an adult; solo riding starts from age eight under the stated conditions. Tickets are sold on site, and reservations are not offered. Plan the coaster around the walk to the lake and the last gondola descent.

Rodelbahn Oeschinensee: location and route

The ride starts near the mountain gondola station. It does not start from the lakeshore. Consider it just after riding up or before leaving. A shore visit and coaster stop still take separate parts of the day.

The operator's ride page, checked 14 October 2026, describes a track of 750 metres with 150 metres of height difference. Those are attraction dimensions, not a hiking distance or a promise about how long a queue will take.

Use the brake control to manage your speed and follow the instructions you receive on site. Do not stop on the track. Mobile phones and filming devices are not permitted during the ride. A recording is not worth losing control or missing the gap to the rider ahead.

Start with the gondola planning guide for access and ascent reservations. The lake guide helps you decide where this extra fits into your main visit.

Rodelbahn Oeschinensee tickets and prices

The checked ticket information says coaster tickets are available at the on-site machine. Reservations are not possible, including for groups. Do not confuse the lake lift's online ticket shop with a reserved coaster booking.

The published single-ride tariff is CHF 6 before 13:00 and CHF 7 from 13:00. The table gives CHF 12 or CHF 14 for two rides, and CHF 18 or CHF 21 for three rides. Check the tariff displayed on your visit day before purchasing several turns.

Children under eight ride free under the attraction's rules, but they must ride with an adult from age three. Confirm how your group will be counted and seated with the staff. Do not buy a ticket on the assumption that a younger child may ride alone.

Budget separately for the rail journey, lift, parking if needed and food. A ride price is not the full cost of reaching the attraction. Buying several turns can also use time that you wanted for the shore, so choose the number after checking the queue.

Age rules and who the ride suits

The published safety rules allow children aged three and older to ride with an adult. Solo riding starts at age eight under set conditions. The child must know the track. The responsible adult must transfer responsibility under the stated rules.

An age threshold is not a promise that every child will enjoy the speed, seating or braking task. Explain the ride before joining the line. If someone in the group is unsure, make a lake walk the main plan and leave the coaster optional.

Follow the staff's instructions rather than tips from a video. Keep both hands on the controls, avoid alcohol before riding and leave the camera packed. Staff may change access or operation for safety; the ticket does not override those decisions.

Opening times, rain and queues

The ride operates only in suitable dry conditions. The operator suspends use when the track is wet. A sunny patch after rain is not proof that the ride has reopened, so check current operating status before heading to the track.

On the checked date, the attraction page and status page carried differing immediate status labels, while both tied use to the weather. The autumn attraction schedule listed 10:00 to 16:30 through 8 November 2026, with a shorter time in the live status text. Check the on-site closing time rather than relying on one cached line.

The operator suggests arriving before noon for shorter waits on fine days. That is advice, not a guaranteed queue length. Do not buy a tight onward train journey based on a guessed five-minute wait or a fixed ride duration.

Combine the coaster with a lake visit

If the shore is your priority, get the walk and return timing clear first. You can decide about the ride when you see the actual queue. If the coaster is the main aim, check it at the upper station. Then a closure will not surprise the group later.

A wet day may also affect mountain paths. The lower forest park at Blausee has a different visitor experience and its own admission; it is not a substitute ride. Keep travel time in mind before changing destinations halfway through the day.

Coaster questions

Is the coaster included in the gondola ticket?

Treat it as a separate purchase unless your actual ticket terms say otherwise. The operator directs visitors to the machine at the ride for coaster tickets. A lift ascent reservation manages boarding for the gondola; it does not book a turn or remove the ride queue.

Can I reserve the toboggan run in advance?

The published guidance says reservations are not possible, including for groups. Buy at the attraction when it is operating, and leave time for the queue. A third-party itinerary mentioning the coaster should explain how ride costs and any wait fit into the excursion.

Can children ride on their own?

The stated solo threshold is age eight, with familiarity and adult responsibility conditions. Children from three can ride with an adult. Confirm the current rules and seating with staff before buying, since reaching an age threshold does not prove that the ride fits a child's confidence or needs.

Verdict on Rodelbahn Oeschinensee

Rodelbahn Oeschinensee works as a dry-weather extra close to the gondola station. Keep its tickets and age rules separate from lake access. Accept a weather closure. Choose extra turns only after checking the queue. Leave enough time to enjoy the water and catch the descent.
